Target Audience

This lesson package is designed for Primary 4 students to develop multimodal literacy at an early age

With some modification, this lesson package can be used in upper primary classrooms as well

Lesson  1 

1. Use metalanguage to describe how visuals semiotic mode interacts with texts to make meaning in a narrative book

2. Critically consider the intentions of the author and illustrators' behind each choice or representation

Lesson  2 

1. Compare and contrast the affordances of comic strips and books

 

2. Create a comic strip using visual and linguistic semiotic modes while demonstrating awareness of PACC

Lesson  3

1. Use metalanguage to describe how meaning is created through the audio semiotic system in a video

2. Select an audio clip that would complement the mood of the visual
